The consequences of too little sleep

While stories abound of high-powered executives who exist on three hours’ sleep a night, too little sleep can very quickly cause:

​  impaired memory and thought processes
​  enhanced effects of alcohol
​  depression
​  decreased immune response
​  impaired cognitive function
​  increased perception of pain.

Caffeine and other stimulants can only overcome the effects of sleep deprivation temporarily leaving the person exposed to a lasting more serious consequence of sleep deprivation
